What’s an Americano?
Americano is a social, rotating doubles format where players are paired with different partners in each round. Points are accumulated individually. It’s competitive, fun, and perfect for meeting new players.

Details:

  • 15 minutes set.

  • Individual points recorded

  • A, B & C levels welcome – players are mixed to balance games

  • Players with highest score will be the winners

Important: Players entering an Americano event may also enter the Over 40s‍, Over 50s and Adult & Junior categories, but not eligible to enter the BT10 event.

About the Event:

  • Each team must include one adult and one junior (U16).

  • Matches follow a social-competitive format, focused on fun, learning, and teamwork across generations.

  • All levels welcome – this event encourages juniors to experience match play in a supportive environment.

  • Adult must serve under arm.

Conditions:

  • Only valid for junior players (U16).

  • Junior must be under 16 on the day of the event.

  • An adult partner must also register (adult pass required separately).

Category C – Beginner

A Beginner player is someone who is new to beach tennis and has limited playing or tournament experience. Players in this category are still developing the fundamental skills, techniques, and understanding of the game.

Typically, Beginner players:

  • Play beach tennis recreationally, usually once a week or less.

  • Are participating in their first tournament or have limited tournament experience.

  • Have not progressed beyond the quarter-finals of a beginner-level tournament.

  • Are still learning the basic tactics, positioning, and shot selection used in beach tennis.

  • May have experience in other racquet sports but are new to beach tennis and still developing their skills.

Category B – Intermediate

An Intermediate player has developed a solid understanding of beach tennis and demonstrates consistent technique, court positioning, and tactical awareness. Players in this category have regular playing experience and are continuing to refine their skills.

Typically, Intermediate players:

  • Play beach tennis regularly, usually more than once a week.

  • Have participated in tournaments and may have progressed to the semi-finals or finals of beginner-level events.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the rules, techniques, and basic strategies of the game.

  • Can sustain rallies consistently and execute the fundamental shots with confidence.

  • May have experience in other racquet sports or have developed their skills through regular practice and coaching.

Category A – Advanced

An Advanced player demonstrates a high level of skill, consistency, and tactical understanding of beach tennis. Players in this category compete confidently at a strong competitive level and are capable of adapting their game to different opponents and match situations.

Typically, Advanced players:

  • Play beach tennis frequently, often several times per week.

  • Have significant tournament experience and consistently perform well in competitive events.

  • Demonstrate advanced technique, tactical awareness, and a thorough understanding of the rules of the game.

  • Execute a wide variety of shots with accuracy, consistency, and confidence.

  • Can sustain high-quality rallies, apply effective match strategies, and adapt their tactics throughout a match.

  • May have an extensive background in beach tennis or other racquet sports and have developed a high level of proficiency through regular competition and coaching.

Open – ITF

The Open category is intended for experienced, high-performance beach tennis players who compete at the highest level of the sport. Players entering this category should have the skills, experience, and physical preparation required for elite competition.

Typically, Open players:

  • Train and compete regularly, dedicating significant time to practice, conditioning, and competition.

  • Participate in ITF Beach Tennis tournaments and other high-level competitions.

  • Demonstrate exceptional technical ability, tactical awareness, and a thorough understanding of the game.

  • Execute a full range of shots with precision, consistency, and confidence under pressure.

  • Adapt their tactics effectively to different opponents and match situations.

  • Hold a current ITF IPIN, where required for ITF-sanctioned events.
